Halloween Weekend Is Last Call For East Nashville's Pop-Ups

At 811 Gallatin Avenue, the purple velvet, glowing clouds and mushrooms have been up at TailGate Brewery since the middle of September. Up on East Trinity Lane, East Nashville Beer Works has spent most of the fall as Black Flame Beer Works, a bar decorated around Hocus Pocus. Both close this Sunday, November 1, and Halloween lands on the Saturday right before that.

So this weekend is the last few days of a season that's already six weeks old. The Five Points party on Saturday is the loudest night of it. Sunday is the day the decorations come down.

The Season You Already Had Six Weeks Of

The two longest-running Halloween pop-ups in the neighborhood opened on two different Wednesdays and Thursdays in September, and they close on the same day. Moonlight & Mischief at TailGate Brewery East Nashville runs Wednesday, September 16, through Sunday, November 1, 2026. Admission is free. Black Flame Beer Works at East Nashville Beer Works opened Thursday, September 24, and also ends Sunday, November 1, with festive cocktails, a special food menu and decor that Nashville Guru says "even the Sanderson Sisters would approve of."

If you've been meaning to stop by and haven't, you have three days left. The hours shrink on Sunday at both places, so plan around them.

Pop-up Address Open since Last day Friday Saturday Sunday
Moonlight & Mischief at TailGate Brewery 811 Gallatin Ave. Sept. 16 Nov. 1 11 a.m.–10 p.m. 11 a.m.–10 p.m. 11 a.m.–9 p.m.
Black Flame Beer Works at East Nashville Beer Works 320 East Trinity Lane Sept. 24 Nov. 1 2–11 p.m. 11 a.m.–11 p.m. 11 a.m.–10 p.m.

Those hours come from the venues' Nashville Guru listings. Holiday weekends can change them, so check the venue's own page before you go.

The two also suit different groups. Nashville Guru's Halloween pop-up roundup lists Moonlight & Mischief as all ages, which makes TailGate the easy pick if the kids are coming. A few blocks over, Chopper at 1100 B Stratton Avenue has been running its Hulaween tiki menu and spooky decor this season for guests 21 and over. If that's on your list, check Chopper for when the decor comes down.

Friday Gets Things Started Off The Main Strip

The weekend starts a night early on Dickerson Pike. The 3rd Annual ONGG x Cherries Halloween Party is Friday, October 30, from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Cherries, 839 Dickerson Pike, and the Eventbrite listing puts admission at $5.

Friday is also the easier night for a last visit to either pop-up. Black Flame stays open until 11 p.m. and TailGate until 10 p.m., and you won't be competing with the Saturday costume crowd heading to Five Points.

Saturday Is The Peak, And It Runs On A Schedule

All Hallows East bills itself as Nashville's biggest Halloween block party. It's Saturday, October 31, from 4 to 10 p.m. in Five Points, and the GPS address is 110 S 11th St. Davidson County Source reports that Good Neighbor Festivals organizes it and that it goes on rain or shine, with any weather updates sent by social media and email.

The thing most likely to trip people up is that admission is free but you need to register in advance, either on the All Hallows East site or on Eventbrite. The event is open to all ages, and friendly, leashed pets are welcome.

The day falls into a clear order:

  1. 4 p.m. The gates open and DJ Griffin Green plays until 7.
  2. 5:15 p.m. Pet costume contest.
  3. 5:30 p.m. Kids and youth costume contest.
  4. 7 p.m. DJ Rondezvous takes over until close.
  5. 7:30 p.m. Adult solo and group costume contests.
  6. 10 p.m. The party ends.

Each contest needs its own registration, separate from event admission, and only the first 10 registered entrants who actually show up get to compete, per the contests page. The event's Experience page promises cash and prizes for the winners. If your dog has a costume ready, plan to arrive well before 5:15, because ten spots fill up fast.

For food, the vendor list includes CHIVANADA, IceCrown, Nosh Desserts, Tennessee Soft Pretzel Co. and The Grilled Cheeserie. Bars on site sell water, soda and alcohol, and there are restrooms. Kids can bring a bag for trick-or-treating with participating businesses and vendors. For getting there, the event FAQ points to parking on surrounding side streets and suggests rideshare.

On Main Street, Tall Tales Rooftop Bar on the fifth floor at 811 Main Street is hosting Tall Tales Presents: The Monster Mash on Halloween. It starts at 2 p.m. and is listed as free. Ask the venue about the closing time before you build a late night around it.

The Corridor Connecting Them Is Being Repaved

The two pop-ups on the main road, TailGate at 811 Gallatin Avenue and the Tall Tales rooftop at 811 Main Street, both sit on the stretch the city is repaving right now. That affects how you get around this weekend.

The Nashville Department of Transportation began phase one of the Gallatin Pike and Main Street Safety Project on Sunday, September 27. It covers paving, striping and repairs along the whole corridor from South 5th Street to Briley Parkway. NDOT said some lanes would close over the following two months, weather permitting, and that crews would keep traffic moving but people should expect delays. If you count from September 27, that two-month window covers Halloween weekend.

Much of the heavy work happens after dark. NDOT's weekly construction report published October 16 listed nighttime milling on Main Street and Gallatin Avenue from South 5th Street to Seymour Avenue for October 18 through 20, plus nighttime signal-loop work out to the Briley Parkway bridge. Those dates were for one week. The pattern matters more: crews work at night, the same hours people are driving home from a Halloween party. Look at NDOT's newest weekly report before Saturday, and if you're bar-hopping between Five Points, Gallatin and Main, walking or rideshare will be easier than parking twice.

The repaving is the first step. NDOT expects phase one to wrap up by year-end. Pedestrian hybrid beacons for mid-block crossings at key spots on Gallatin Pike start in early 2027, and the full project is expected to be finished by May 2027. NDOT also says the project lays groundwork for the larger Gallatin Pike All-Access Corridor. By next Halloween, crossing Gallatin on foot between pop-ups should be a different trip.

Why Your Side Street Might Be Closed On Saturday Night

Five Points isn't the only place cars will be blocked off. Through NDOT's Open Streets program, run with Walk Bike Nashville, neighbors can get a free block party permit to close their street to cars, and they can borrow approved signs and cones at no cost. NDOT's October 14 release says the city issued 41 neighborhood street closures last year.

So if you see cones at the end of a residential block in Lockeland Springs or Inglewood on Saturday night, a neighbor probably got them weeks ago. The temporary street closure permit page says a residential block party permit needs signatures from 66% of affected residents and a notification letter sent two weeks before the event. The Open Streets program page asks for sign and cone requests at least five business days before pickup. With those lead times, the blocks closing for this Halloween were planned in early October. If you'd like your street on the list next year, mid-September is the time to start collecting signatures.

On streets that stay open, NDOT's Halloween advice for drivers is to stay alert for trick-or-treaters and slow down, since roads will be more crowded.

Sunday Is The Last Day

After Saturday's crowd, Sunday is probably the calmest day of the weekend to visit either pop-up, and it's the last one. TailGate's Moonlight & Mischief is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Black Flame is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on November 1, the final day for both pop-ups. If you go to TailGate for a Sunday lunch, you'll get a last look at the velvet and the mushrooms in daylight.
